Week 6 - Thinking ahead

Hey all,

Back at you with another update/blog post.

Some big updates from this week. I spoke with a lawyer specializing in small businesses about a bunch of things and it really gave me some clarity in terms of design and what I can and can’t do/get away with. That being said; the clarity that conversation gave me propelled me into action and I now have my spring line concept done. I won’t reveal much; but I’m pivoting from my original Dog/Cat lover idea (it’ll be back at some point) and moving toward a collection featuring hand-picked vintage pieces. This being said, I also made some changes to the pricing model and refined the “ABOUT” section; so if you want to get an idea of where I’m heading design wise, check it out here.

I’m growing more confident in my brand & creative direction as a whole. The brand is still young, so I can really do anything I want with very low risk… something that used to scare me to death (I used to think: WHAT IF I DO IT AND NOBODY BUYS IT OMG), but now is something I find comfort in. I’ve felt my mentality shift toward “I’m going to do what I want to do because it’s my brand, and if you don’t like it, GREAT! If you do like it, EVEN BETTER!”

This is all based around the cold hard truth that nobody gives a shit unless I do & everyone loves your art and design work until it’s time to pay for it. People love your stuff but when you tell them the price, they have a laundry list of excuses of why it’s not worth it (Not everyone’s like this!). I take pride in my work and if the price tag is too high for you, fine. There’s someone out there that will appreciate it and what is meant to be will be. As a creative, I’ve finally accepted this fact.

On the music front; I’m just getting organized and taking my time with this new project. I’d rather have quality over quantity, and if that means waiting then so be it. Music is my passion, and I’ll be damned if my art is tainted and I could’ve done something about it. (Also, you can listen to my debut EP here if you haven’t yet!)

This coming week & next few months I’ll be locked in on my spring collection; so if you’re reading this and you’re a designer looking for an opportunity to showcase your talent AND YOU WANT TO GET PAID; please hit me up (email me, DM me, or fill out the contact form on the website) & I guarantee I will get back to you. The brand is and always will be about collaboration, so if you’re serious about your craft & are willing to put in the work, I will make sure you get compensated for your efforts.

Other than that; I wish everyone all the success and a great week going forward. If you’re reading this please drop a comment so I know who you are!! Thank you for your continued support and I’m excited to share my work with everyone when it’s all done.

Until next week,

Ani
